How will I get my house sold?
House Selling Strategies
Let's come up with a way to get your house sold! First of all how are you going to sell it? Are you planning on selling it yourself or are you planning on using a realty service to help you sell your home?
So you ask yourself "I could save a lot of money by selling my house on my own without using a realty service." Yes, you absolutely can. But the real question to ask yourself is "Am I the type of person that would enjoy selling my house without using a Realtor?" It's a lot of work, but you might be the type of person that would have fun with that.
If you're not that type (and most aren't) there is no reason that you can't save money. There are plenty of businesses out there that will get Realtors to bid for your business. Both Home Gain and Hungry Agents will keep your information anonymous and yet allow you to receive bids from Realtors, try them both and see what commission rate you get offered.
Whether you decide to sell your house on your own or through a real estate agent, there is a general tip that apply to both. Get yourself and your house ready to sell. Your actual move date may seem a long ways off, but it will come quickly. Before you have a single person visit the house take the opportunity to get a little bit of packing done. Take everything that you don't. No, correction, can't live without and put it into boxes. Take these boxes to a storage facility and leave them there. You're doing yourself two big favors by doing this. One, you're telling yourself, "self, I'm going to be moving soon, and this house that I have so many memories in is not going to be my house anymore." That's okay, you're going to be moving to a new place with new memories and they are going to be even better memories! The second favor you do for yourself is help the house to sell quicker and possibly even for more money. A house with clutter in it doesn't help a buyer who is walking through the house to be able to picture him or herself living there. You really should to get all your pictures, trophies, broken singing bass, and random fridge magnets out of the house and into storage. If you can get a buyer to walk into the house and say "this room will be our pool room and over there will be our lounge area and the tv will go right there..." you've made the sale already.
